How Can Foreigners Get Married in Turkey?
Turkish legislation is applied in marriage proceedings to be held in Turkish Authorities in Turkey. In other words, the marriage takes place with the verbal declaration of the people who will marry in the witness of two people before the official. In the event that one of the spouses is a foreigner, the municipal marriage offices and directorate of census are authorized to officiate marriages in Turkey. In order to make a marriage application in Turkey, it is necessary to apply to the marriage officer with the following documents.
What Are the Documents for Marriage?
a) Declaration (Declaration is signed by reading and filling in accordance with the identity card with a photo to be submitted by the parties, passport for foreigners and those whose nationality is not certain, identity documents, identity documents given by the provincial directorates of the immigration administration.)
b) Health report/official health board report to be obtained from official or private health institutions and organizations.
d) Passport photograph.
d) Civil registry extract or marriage license certificate.
What is a Marriage License Certificate?
For foreigners, a document issued and duly approved by the authorized central authorities or local representatives of that state, showing the person's name, surname, mother and father's name, date of birth and whether there is any obstacle to marriage, is considered a marriage license certificate.
The applications of foreigners regarding their marriage wishes are examined by the marriage office and the application is accepted if there is no deficiency.
A family certificate and also a multilingual marriage certificate is issued upon their request to a foreign national woman or man who marries before the competent Turkish authorities.
